Joe's Pizza in Hillsborough, NJ has existed as long as I remember. As a child, our family ordered from this pizzeria quite regularly and I have come to enjoy their pizza wholeheartedly. The pizzeria is in a shopping mall area on the side of Route 206, which runs straight through Hillsborough. It's on the side of town closer to Montgomery and very close to the Hillsborough Diner. The establishment seems small from the outside, but does have ample seating for larger crowds and parties. The interior of the restaurant gives off a local Italian restuarant vibe and there is a large shelf full of authentic Italian products near the counter. There are several options for slices, pies, and calzones on the counter to choose from. The last time I was in, they even had one of the TVs playing the news in Italian with English subtitles.

The pizza has a thin crust that is on the crispy side. One of the key features that distinguishes Joe's from other pizza in Hillsborough is the heavy use of oregano spices on top of the cheese. The spices are melded with the cheese in a way that they don't fall off when you lift up the slice. The presence of the oregano makes the slice more flavorful and spicy. The cheese tastes fresh and the sauce is delicious and goes right up until the very edge of the crust. Since Joe's is so close to the Sourland Mountain Preserve, I recommend doing a hike and then driving to Joe's for an after-hike slice of awesome Jersey pizza.

Update: I have since returned to Joe's with my girlfriend to try a few of their specialty slices. The chicken bacon ranch was delicious and featured a great ratio of ranch dressing to cheese to topping. The crispy base and crust really added to the whole experience.

My girlfriend let me tried a bite of her pasta slice which also was quality. The pasta tasted great and the slice was loaded with cheese. I loved it.

Italy's Restaurant & Pizzeria, Phillipsburg, NJ

Date: 6/21/2019 Location: Phillipsburg, NJ Pizza Ordered: Plain, White, and Sicilian Website: https://italysrestaurant.com/#home Italy's is a small local pizza joint that has the appearance of your typical neighborhood pizzeria. Lovely paintings of Italy adorn the walls and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I was extra hungry, so I went with my usual plain slice and added a white slice and a Sicilian slice. The meal came with complimentary bread that was pleasantly fluffy and had a good mix of herbs and spices on it. The plain had pretty decent sauce and cheese and the charred crust was good, but a bit burnt in some places. The white was very fluffy with a good helping of cheese. The square slice had really great sauce and parmesan and a nice amount of fluff to the base. Overall, I would say Italy's puts out a good average slice of pizza.

Luca's Ristorante, Somerset, NJ

Date: 8/25/2019 Location: Somerset, NJ Pizza Ordered: Janara (Tomato sauce / basil / mozzarella) Website: https://www.lucasristorante.com Luca's Ristorante is a hidden gem passageway directly to the Gulf of Naples.  The interior of the restaurant is absolutely stunning, with beautifully painted murals adorning the wall, gorgeous hanging lights over the tables and lovely pottery all over the place. The staff is so friendly and goes out of their way to make the dining experience a positive one.  I also want to say that I love their NJ focused wine list. It's so uplifting to see restaurants supporting local wineries and the Pino Grigio from Hopewell Valley was lovely.  The pizza is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I decided to order the Janara, which is similar to a basic Margherita pizza. When it arrived at the table, it smelled amazing and fresh and I couldn't wait to dive in. The tomato sauce has a rich sweetness that balances out the pie very nicely. The cheese is milky and fre

Panatieri's, Hillsborough, NJ

Date: 9/26/2016 Location: Hillsborough, NJ Pizza Ordered: Margherita and Plain Website: www.panatierispizza.com/ Panatieri's is a New Jersey Chain of pizzerias that originated in Bound Brook. The owner, Chris Panatieri still owns and operates the original location. There are nine total locations throughout New Jersey, but this review is for the Hillsborough location. The pizzeria itself replaced another Hillsborough Pizzeria called "Portabello's" which, from what I remember, served a decent plain slice. The setup is similar, with a large counter that displays many of the options available and ample indoor seating. Parking is also quite simple, as the lot is shared with a nearby Kohls, so there are plenty of spots. While I initially missed the disappearance of Portabello's, after trying Panatieri's I have nearly forgotten why I enjoyed Portabello's in the first place. Panatieri's pizza is very good with a thin and crispy bottom and delicious bread
