Angelo's II, Hillsborough, NJ

Date: 03/15/2017
Location: Hillsborough, NJ
Pizza Ordered: Plain and Margherita
Website: [None] Phone number: (908) 359-2526

Angelo's II is located in a strip mall along Amwell Road on the post office side of the road. There's never a problem with parking and there are good seating options inside. Angelo's has long supported township recreation and has hundreds of photos of teams they've supported plastered all over the wall. It's always nice to have a local business support the town. The staff was polite and service was quick. The plain slice was pretty good, but could have used some more sauce. The cheese was rich and greasy and the base was very crispy. Crust was crispy as well. The margherita was very good, sporting fresh, rich tasting cheese. The cheese does have the tendency to slip off when you bite only a potion, so be warned of this. The sauce is very tasty and it seems that there are very thin slices of tomatoes on the pizza as well. I quite like this design because the tomatoes definitely add extra flavor, but aren't too thick to add too much weight to the slice. It should be noted that the base and crust were a tad well-done which can be seen in the picture. Overall, Angelo's makes some decent pizza and is worth the visit.

Italy's Restaurant & Pizzeria, Phillipsburg, NJ

Date: 6/21/2019 Location: Phillipsburg, NJ Pizza Ordered: Plain, White, and Sicilian Website: https://italysrestaurant.com/#home Italy's is a small local pizza joint that has the appearance of your typical neighborhood pizzeria. Lovely paintings of Italy adorn the walls and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I was extra hungry, so I went with my usual plain slice and added a white slice and a Sicilian slice. The meal came with complimentary bread that was pleasantly fluffy and had a good mix of herbs and spices on it. The plain had pretty decent sauce and cheese and the charred crust was good, but a bit burnt in some places. The white was very fluffy with a good helping of cheese. The square slice had really great sauce and parmesan and a nice amount of fluff to the base. Overall, I would say Italy's puts out a good average slice of pizza.

Krispy Pizza, New Brunswick, NJ

Date: 2/21/2017 Location: New Brunswick, NJ Pizza Ordered: Margherita and Palermo Girlfriend: Vodka Sauce and Plain Website: krispypizza.com/ When I heard that a Krispy Pizza was coming to Rutgers, New Brunswick I was ecstatic. I knew immediately that it would steal the top of the best pizza in New Brunswick list having been to the Jersey City location and really enjoyed the pizza there. I can honestly say that the New Brunswick location is the same excellent quality as the Jersey City location. The atmosphere is very much the same with a large mural on the wall and a very Italian cashier. There is more indoors seating in the New Brunswick Krispy Pizza than the Jersey City location, but there is also some outdoor seating available which will definitely get used during the spring and summer months. Parking isn't easy for this location. There are meter spots on Hamilton Street but a majority of the people coming here for lunch will be College Students living in the Yard or on ...

Star Tavern, South Orange, NJ

Date: 7/25/2017 Location: South Orange, NJ Pizza Ordered: Plain and Works Website: www.startavern.net/ Star Tavern is a busy bar and pizzeria in South Orange, New Jersey. There is some parking at the actual building and there is a lot next door with additional parking (which you'll need to use if you go around dinner time). The wait staff is very helpful, polite, and works quick! The atmosphere is very cool and somewhat retro but also quite noisy as you'd expect a popular bar to be. There are arcade games, booths, plenty of posters, neon signs, and a bar seating area. The pizza is fantastic. Star Tavern has some of the thinnest crust I've ever experienced on a pizza. The base was super thin and pleasantly crispy. The ingredients were all delicious and I find myself agreeing with Pete Genovese when he calls this the gold--standard of thin crust pizza in NJ. Just remember that because the crust and base is so thin and because the pizza tastes so good, you'll likely ...
