Nomad Pizza, Princeton, NJ

Pizza Ordered: Margherita Pie

I took my girlfriend, Kristen, out to lunch here on a rainy afternoon. Nomad Pizza is a fancy, little restaurant in the Princeton Shopping Center. From the outside it appears to be an old car dealership or fire station that is revitalized into a beautiful inside and outdoor restaurant. This pizzeria is a sit-down spot much like a diner or restaurant where a waitress takes your order. Our waitress, Lindsay, was nice and full of energy. The indoors was somewhat rustic looking but very elegant. Not too casual, but not overly formal. The pizza ovens were quite interesting and looked like a clay pottery oven.

The pizza was on the smaller side and came unsliced with a pizza cutter. We decided to portion it into six slices, which broke the pie up nicely. The bottom of the pizza was thin and not burnt nor did it have too much cornmeal. The sauce and the cheese were both fresh and blended very nicely together. The crust was somewhat thin, yet fluffy. Unfortunately, our pizza came with a good portion of the crust burnt to a crisp and while I don't usually mind a little extra crispiness, it really masked the flavor of an already mildly flavored pizza.

We also ordered the chocolate chip cannoli and the rootbeer float for dessert (see pictures below). The rootbeer float was made with their draft root beer, which is quite delicious. The creaminess of the float was on-par and I enjoyed it. The cannoli's crust wasn't especially flavorful but the filling was pretty good and overall wasn't bad.

Italy's Restaurant & Pizzeria, Phillipsburg, NJ

Date: 6/21/2019 Location: Phillipsburg, NJ Pizza Ordered: Plain, White, and Sicilian Website: https://italysrestaurant.com/#home Italy's is a small local pizza joint that has the appearance of your typical neighborhood pizzeria. Lovely paintings of Italy adorn the walls and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I was extra hungry, so I went with my usual plain slice and added a white slice and a Sicilian slice. The meal came with complimentary bread that was pleasantly fluffy and had a good mix of herbs and spices on it. The plain had pretty decent sauce and cheese and the charred crust was good, but a bit burnt in some places. The white was very fluffy with a good helping of cheese. The square slice had really great sauce and parmesan and a nice amount of fluff to the base. Overall, I would say Italy's puts out a good average slice of pizza.

Krispy Pizza, New Brunswick, NJ

Date: 2/21/2017 Location: New Brunswick, NJ Pizza Ordered: Margherita and Palermo Girlfriend: Vodka Sauce and Plain Website: krispypizza.com/ When I heard that a Krispy Pizza was coming to Rutgers, New Brunswick I was ecstatic. I knew immediately that it would steal the top of the best pizza in New Brunswick list having been to the Jersey City location and really enjoyed the pizza there. I can honestly say that the New Brunswick location is the same excellent quality as the Jersey City location. The atmosphere is very much the same with a large mural on the wall and a very Italian cashier. There is more indoors seating in the New Brunswick Krispy Pizza than the Jersey City location, but there is also some outdoor seating available which will definitely get used during the spring and summer months. Parking isn't easy for this location. There are meter spots on Hamilton Street but a majority of the people coming here for lunch will be College Students living in the Yard or on ...

Star Tavern, South Orange, NJ

Date: 7/25/2017 Location: South Orange, NJ Pizza Ordered: Plain and Works Website: www.startavern.net/ Star Tavern is a busy bar and pizzeria in South Orange, New Jersey. There is some parking at the actual building and there is a lot next door with additional parking (which you'll need to use if you go around dinner time). The wait staff is very helpful, polite, and works quick! The atmosphere is very cool and somewhat retro but also quite noisy as you'd expect a popular bar to be. There are arcade games, booths, plenty of posters, neon signs, and a bar seating area. The pizza is fantastic. Star Tavern has some of the thinnest crust I've ever experienced on a pizza. The base was super thin and pleasantly crispy. The ingredients were all delicious and I find myself agreeing with Pete Genovese when he calls this the gold--standard of thin crust pizza in NJ. Just remember that because the crust and base is so thin and because the pizza tastes so good, you'll likely ...
